Cycling capris with pockets, such joy!

It took a little while for them to get here, but they're worth the wait. Just arrived; my cycling capris from Portland Cyclewear. No more wandering around at work looking like a split personality dressed me. Spare shirt top with PI cyling capris. Or hauling jeans back and forth.
Here are pants, that look like pants and are great or riding.
The fabric feels light, almost crepe-like, and there are pockets pockets pockets pockets. Deep stretchy pockets on the back, two cell phone pockets on the thigh with velcro closures, side pockets are zippered.
I can now .... drum roll .... bike to work and go out to lunch without having to carry my pack. I can keep the change because there's somewhere to put change (I'll still tip my barrista)
Plenty of room in the thigh. I'm cross legged now, here's plenty of room for movement.
Waist band is elasticized at the rear just a little, and it's high enough so there is no plumber's crack.
Chamois as advertised no "diaper look", feels like just enough for my ride. Stay tuned for the road review.

Help

I'd like some of those there pants too, and I don't even ride a bike. Just nice to have all those pockets. And that “no diaper feel” is exactly what I need too. WhoooHoo
mimi, If you don't need the chamois you can remove it. I've done that (carefully so as not to rip the shorts) on MTB (mountain bike style, which are baggy) bike shorts.
“No diaper feel” is a term cyclists use that some folks prefer more padding on the shorts, some less and some riders don't like a chamois (padded shorts) at all. These have a pad but it's light, thin. Just enough for comfort on the ride but not so much that all day you are reminded “yikes! I'm in a business meeting wearing bike shorts!!”
Or, get these capris and then you'll need a bike.
I lusted after a pair, but with XL listed as a size 12-14 I didn't dare. But hey, sis, aren't we the same pant size? If they fit you, maybe a pair'll fit me too :) … Or have you lost more weight than I have :( :D
I have two pair, K wears the same size as I do. When will you be here (or Seattle) next?
My friend Phoenix (who introduced me to Gaia.com) aims to get me into the best shape of my life. Yikes. Maybe I'll shrink out of them? If so they are yours, or K's.
What I'd like to know is —why can't someone invent a comfy bicycle seat?
Maybe something nice like a bucket seat, use some of that chamois creatively, , some padding for goodness sakes.
It sounds counterintuitive but the bigger and more padded the seat the less comfy it is. I'd write more about bike fit but not at the moment.
Mimi, I've participated in 5 California AIDS Lifcycle rides (7 days, 585 miles, San Francisco to LA) and all the associated training for the long ride.
Trust me, nothing hurts. Maybe my quads and muscles, but not my butt.
It's all about the fit.
Friends don't let friends buy a bike at a big box store. Find an independent local bike shop near you. They will fit your bike and saddle for your riding style. Pain anywhere is often a sign of poor bike fit.
Good article (and magazine) here:

mimi, just for you I posted something my fiancee wrote about the experience of trying out a bike. So if you have not visited a LBS (that's local bike shop in the cyclist lingo) and had a bike fit for you that should be what it's like …..FUN!
